Homemade Fruit Leathers!

With families traveling and relatives visiting, it can be hard to find foods and snacks that everyone enjoys.

Making homemade Fruit Leathers not only make your house smell delicious, but you can even roll them up and tie them with festive ribbon and call it a unique, last-minute gift.

Following you may find the simple recipe:

* 3 cups ripe chopped fruit (our twins prefer strawberries & peeled apples) * Sweetener to taste (I sometimes use a small squeeze of honey/agave nectar or maple syrup) * 1 Tsp. of Lemon Juice (don't skip this step, unless you want brown-looking fruit leathers)

DIRECTIONS:

Line your dehydrator trays with heat-safe plastic wrap/parchment paper or preheat your oven to 150 degrees F/the lowest temperature your oven will go. If doing the oven method, line an 11 x 17 baking sheet and set aside.

Puree the strawberries & peeled apples, sweetener of your choice & lemon juice in a blender or food processor until smooth. Pour the fruit mixture onto prepared plastic wrap and spread to about a 1/8″ thick.

Dehydrate the fruit mixture (or place the baking sheet in the oven) and bake for 6-8 hours, until the pan is set and the center is not tacky. Remove from oven and let cool to room temperature. Gently peel off the fruit leather from the plastic wrap. Cut into squares or strips using a kitchen scissors. If you want to make fruit roll-ups, roll the strips in parchment paper. Store in an air-tight container.

Enjoy!
