The Dangers of Sugar!

Sugar!

How many of you love the sweetness of adding sugar to your coffee, sprinkled on your fruit, coated on your almonds, etc.? Did you know that Americans consume nearly 30 added teaspoons of sugar each day!!!!!!

It should be zero!

The question you shouldn't be asking yourself is, "Should I select Equal, Stevia, or Sweet ‘N Low, but rather, how can I avoid added sugars all together & what damage is it doing to my body?"

Americans are pouring on added sugar at an alarming rate and sugar is addicting! Sugar stimulates the release of dopamine in our bodies, (much as a response to a rewarding event) or just like cocaine, heroin & nicotine also hijack this brain system.

The overuse of added sugar also shortens our bodies telomeres. Telomeres are the little caps at the end of our DNA strands (think of the little protective plastic parts on the ends of shoelaces). The longer our telomeres are, the better cellular function we possess & the healthier we are. As telomeres shorten, it can lead to cellular malfunction, poor immune systems, diabetes, cancers & heart disease.

That is some scary stuff, so...how can we stop this addictive process? Get natural sugars straight from Whole Foods! Fruits & vegetables contain more than enough sugars to satisfy one's sweet tooth, without the destructive aftermath.

If you do eat packaged foods, never eat a product that has sugar listed as one of the first 3 ingredients on the nutrition label. Also, don’t eat a product with 3 different types of added sugars (evaporated cane juice, corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, etc.).

Avoiding added sugars all together can be one of the best things you do for yourself. Just satisfy your sweet tooth by biting into an apple, let the juice of a watermelon run down your chin, or pick a peach right off a tree and enjoy the succulent taste of nature.

Rest assured, Fit Mama Foods will never add sugar to any of our products. And by selecting the right choice, your body, brain & waistline will all thank you!
