Hello Friends! Happy Sunday!
As we head into another week, I wanted to quickly address a topic that I am asked about all of the time: How do I get my kids to eat super healthy?
First and foremost - involve them with the grocery shopping. If they help you pick out the foods, they are way more likely to eat them.
Secondly, keep it simple – cut up fruits, raw veggies, nuts and smoothies are great go-to’s in our house.
Finally, it’s not really a matter of ‘getting’ kids to eat healthy, but rather the choices made available to them. When they only have fruits, hummus, veggies, and nuts, it’s a lot easier for them to select healthier choices than traditional chips or candy.
If you’re struggling to get your kids to eat healthier, look around to see what influences they may have, what they may have available to them, and I can guarantee if healthier selections are readily at their disposal, eating healthy will be a piece of pie! 😉
As our family eats salad several times a week, we like to spruce up our greens with a homemade salad dressing. Our favorite is a homemade Balsamic Vinaigrette. It takes only moments to mix up and is a big hit with our whole family!
Check out our tried & true recipe here:
Mix all of the following ingredients in a glass jar:
1) ½ Cup Olive Oil
2) 1/3 Cup Balsamic Vinegar
3) 1 Clove of Garlic, Minced
4) 1 T. Local Honey
5) ½ Tsp. Pepper
6) 1 Tsp. Basil
7) 1 Tsp. Oregano
Try it out and stay strong, Mom and Dad – it all pays off in the long-run!
